Paysandú to Colón
Today was an easy day, as I just crossed the border from Uruguay to Argentina, and didn't really plan for anything else. I left Paysandú relatively early – at 9am Uruguayan time – and went to the international bridge over the Rio Uruguay which connects Paysandú in Uruguay with Colón in Argentina. Border formalities went really smooth, and there wasn't much traffic, so I was done very quickly. Both, Uruguayan and Argentinian immigration happens on the Uruguayan side of the bridge, and then I went over the river – an amazing view, as the bridge is quite hight, but it is forbidden to stop (even for pedestrians), so I didn't take a photo...
As Argentina doesn't have summer time, I arrived to Colón – which is only 7km from the bridge – by 8:30 or 9am Argentinian time. Shops just started to open – those that open on a Sunday – and I went to the town centre and found a place at the main square to have another coffee and orange juice. Then I went to find an ATM to stock up on Argentinian pesos, and went in search of a camping. I found a nice and simple camping at the end of the playa, where I also met a bunch of nice people from Buenos Aires. I put up my tent and chatted a little, and had some rest. Then I went a bit to the beach of the Rio Uruguay – much more crowded on this side of the river than anywhere in Uruguay.
Generally, Colón feels much more like a tourist place than any place I went to in Uruguay – with the exception of Colonia del Sacramento.
After the beach, I had some siesta, and then cycled quickly to the centre of town to get some more credit for my Argentinian SIM... And now its time to update the blog (if it works – no Wifi).
