San Francisco to Las Varillas

Yesterday, after the siesta and the updating of my blog, I did another walk through the centre of town. It was Saturday evening, and so there were a lot of people in the streets in the evening. I had a beer in one of the cafés, and watched people. I went back to my hotel relatively early to sleep.

I woke up at 6 in the morning, even without my alarm. I took a shower (I had time), and had breakfast at the hotel (breakfast was included). I left a little before 7:30am, and soon I was on the Ruta Nacional 158 to Las Varillas, at km78 of the road. I took this route to avoid the RN19 to Córdoba, which is also known as “the most dangerous one”. But RN158 also has quite some HGV traffic, as it is part of a transit corridor of the Mercosur-Chile, connecting Brazil and Paraguay with Chile. Fortunately on a Sunday morning there was not much traffic, and while there were a lot of HGVs, they normally could give me enough space, so that I didn't have to get off the road very often.

I didn't make many breaks. In Saturnino M. Laspiur, at km46 of the road, I had a break at a service station and drank a lemonade. And I stopped once or twice more to drink some water. At about 11:30am, I arrived at Las Varillas.

I had lunch in the main square of Las Varillas ( a little bit of bread with cheese and tomato, a beer, and a yoghurt), and then went to look for accommodation. I found a reasonably cheap hotel more or less central, and now I am resting and writing.
